What exactly is a transformer?
A transformer is also known as a transformer. It essentially consists of two coils and ensures that an input voltage is converted into an output voltage. The output voltage can be higher or lower than the input voltage. The voltage change in the transformer depends on the ratio of the number of turns of the respective coils. For example, if the ratio of turns is 20 to 1, then at an input voltage of 120 volts, 6 volts will eventually be output.
Typical faults caused by transformers
Is this what happens here in the instrument cluster?
- Backlight failure
- Flickering or flashing of illumination or
- to the failure of the LCD screen,
the transformers installed at this point are probably the cause of the fault. However, you do not have to replace the complete combination unit to solve the problem. Often it is sufficient to replace the defective transformers. This saves you money and protects the environment by reducing the amount of electronic waste.
